A report has indicated that the construction industry will begin to grow by 9% per year up until 2020. This will result in the sustaining of more than 100,000 jobs!

According to the report, carpenters and joiners will be most in demand. 30,800 jobs will need to be filled by this trade. There will also be a need for 27,600 general labourers, 18,100 operatives and 15,200 electricians.

Not only that, but 13,900 plastering and tiling jobs will also need to be filled. More managers will be needed too and will need to fill 9,600 jobs.

Thousands of jobs will ultimately be available for a variety of different trades.

Tom Parlon, director general of the Construction Industry Federation recommended that emigrants should consider coming home. “There is sufficient work in the pipeline to require about another 112,000 jobs up to 2020 and beyond.”

“The CIF is trying to ensure there are sufficient skilled employees by engaging in several initiatives.”

“We’re working with the education and training boards to up skill those on the live register with construction experience. We’re attracting young people into the industry by highlighting the modern globalised careers available.”
