A builder has recently missed out on death by a few short millimetres.

The builder, Nick Thompson, was framing a cupboard when the incident took place. The nail gun kicked back into his face resulting in a nail being lodged into his eye. Thompson believed that he must of hit a nail that was already in the wood, which caused the accident. He described to Fox news: “this was the most freak thing that could of happened that I didn’t die from.”

He continued, “I didn’t even know I had a nail in my eye until we got to the hospital and then sitting in the chair, I was like ‘Take a picture. Take a picture.'”

Surgeons were able to remove the nail though without damaging Thompson’s sight or brain. They are however, needing to monitor the site for infection. The patient stated though that this incident has influenced him to prioritise what is important in his life. His two children.

“One more millimetre and it was a lobotomy. One more millimetre and it was poke my eye out. One more millimetre and I was dead. There are so many things that could’ve gone wrong. I don’t know how everything went right.”
