The saying ‘heroes don’t always wear capes’ truly does ring true with this story. This is because three incredibly heroic builders went above and beyond this week, saving passengers who were trapped after the horrific collision on the M25 Monday.

Located in the car next to the coach, they were eyewitnesses to the terrible crash. Looking on in horror, the workers saw the coach as it hit the barrier. The coach then also scraped down the side of the barrier, throwing its passengers everywhere!

Immediately pulling their car over, the trio rushed to help those inside. Grabbing their tools, they got to work smashing the coach windows and helping the passengers out.

The builders described that many of the people on the coach were women and children. As a result of the crash, many were injured and covered in blood. But, in the aftermath, everyone pulled together to also help rescue those injured and trapped in the coach. Luckily, many only sustained minor injuries. However, 10 children were among the 49 that were injured.

Toby Crook-Haines, one of the builders, described, “I’d just like to say, to all of the other people that were helping, that they did a fantastic job and deserve their recognition.”

Kent Police Road Policing Unit also tweeted: “Proud to see all emergency services working so effectively together.”

“And just to make things interesting a baby boy was born at the scene.”

“They were caught up in the traffic and stopped next to the scene for medical help.”

“Life so easily could have been lost today instead we have gone home, somewhat late off, knowing that some good news has come from today.”

Finally, there is only one thing left to say, a massive well done to everyone helped out in the aftermath of the crash! From these three builders to all of the emergency services. We salute you all!
