Lets be honest, who likes parking wardens? Chances are, probably not a lot of us. In fact, a lot of people on the road may have got something against them. But, in this instance, it’s not surprising there’s been uproar over this parking warden.
In fact, it’s pretty reasonable that people have been criticising this traffic warden after he ticketed a funeral vehicle! Yep, and to make matters worse, the driver was actually helping load the body into the hearse.
The incident occurred at a hospital in Carlisle and was witnessed by a HGV driver nearby.
According to the HGV driver, George Portsmouth, the parking warden waited for the driver of the funeral care and hearse to enter the hospital before he made his way over. Then, hurriedly, the traffic warden got to work writing out the ticket and taking the registration before scurrying away.
Mr Portsmouth described: “It was obvious what that car was there for.”
“I saw the warden was watching what they were doing and the second they went inside he rushed and put the ticket on the cortege car and ran off.”
“He wasn’t walking, he was running.”
“He’s seen them come in and waited until they were out of sight before he ticketed them.”
“He must have known what they were doing.”
“Some of these car parking wardens can be quite ruthless and careless.”
“It was bad form.”
Luckily though the North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust requested that the UKPC conduct an investigation into the matter. Since then, the ticket has been retracted. A hospital spokesperson stated: “As soon as we were alerted to this situation we asked UKPC to investigate and the parking charge was quickly rescinded as a result.”
