It’s Friday and time for another episode of Quids In! This week we were sponsored by Simply Business and, had a brand new look to go with it. Rustic eh?
But, if you’re new to the site, you’re probably wondering what an earth Quids In is. Well, it’s our weekly Facebook live show where we give our audience the chance to win a whole host of different prizes. Every. Single. Week! Not only that, but we also discuss news headlines, top tips and honour a hero of the week. So let’s take a look at this week’s show!
First up, our host Any Taylor kicked off with a news headline.
‘Construction workers are the best husbands!’
Yep! A university survey has recently uncovered that tradesmen make the best husbands. But why?
Well, it’s not for showering their partners with gifts or being a good listener. Nope, instead, it’s because of their loyalty! Out of all the jobs, construction workers were actually found to be the most faithful, especially compared to office workers.
But before Andy could talk about any more loyal builders or promiscuous office workers, he was interrupted by the competition claxon which sounded for our very first giveaway! It was time for the wheel of fortune. But, what is it we were giving away?
Well, thanks to our friends at Simply Business we were giving our audience the chance to win a Ring Floodlight Camera worth over £200! Keeping your van safe, it’s triggered by sensors and a notification is sent straight to your phone that someone is on your property. A great bit of kit for some added security!
One of the UK’s biggest providers of business insurance, like the Ring Floodlight Camera, Simply Business also protects tradespeople. In fact, they protect almost half a million customers with tailored and flexible policies. Want to get in on that? Then check them out here.
Going back to the competition though, all our audience had to do to be in with a chance of winning was guess a number between 1 and 12, simple! And, this week, the wheel landed on the number… 10!
With one competition down, it was then time for our next segment of the show: caption this!
Switching things up a bit this week, we were doing our classic case of caption this. Instead, Simply Business have been looking for the best business names across the UK. They’ve already come across some belters like Bonny Tiler and Spandau Valet but, we wanted to hear your suggestions for punny names. Get it? Like funny… Anyway, saved by the claxon it was time for another competition.
We were mixing things up again for this competition too. As our friends at Simply Business are so security conscious, they asked us to put together a game that involves security. So that’s exactly what we did! Showcasing a bunch of keys numbered from 1 to 10, all our audience had to do was guess which one would open the tool storage box.
And, if they guessed correctly, they could be in with a chance of winning an Armorgard Oxbox worth £170. With the comments flooding in, the winning key was the number… FIVE!
Our second competition done with, this officially marked the halfway point in our show. So let’s crack on with some top tips!
This is the part of the show where we aim to keep money in the pockets of the UK tradespeople. Everything is getting more expensive nowadays so we try and help our audience keep a hold of their dosh with some top tips.
Tip 1: Halford’s trade card. The Halford’s trade card can save you plenty with hundreds of pounds worth of savings. If you’re a mechanic or work in the trade, then you could be eligible for one of these guys. All you have to do is prove your qualifications and you could be saving hundreds, so check out whether you’d be eligible for one online now!
Tip 2: Exclusive OTT insurance deal. Thanks to our friends at Simply Business, our audience was offered a £25 gift voucher when purchasing insurance through the unique OTT/Simply Business link. So, not only will you be saving on your insurance by going with them, but you’ll also grab yourself a voucher too. Bonus!
And with both of these top tips, then you could also be… QUIDS IN!
Speaking of which, it was time for our third competition, Blindfold Darts! Heading over to the Blindfold Darts Arena, Scott was with Jack who was back and blindfolded ready to throw his darts. This time, our audience had the chance to win another Armorgard Oxbox to keep their tools safe. And, to be in with a chance of winning it, all they had to do was guess a number between 1 and 20! And this week, the winning number was… fifteen!
Once again supplied by our friends at Simply Business, they insure more than 150,000 UK tradespeople with things such as public liability, tool insurance and more. Rated 9/10 by their customers, they even have an award-winning claims team that are available to help 24/7, all year round!
Three competitions won, and with just one more competition to go, it was now time for our next part of the show… shoutouts!
This is the part of the show where our audience can get involved live on air and bag themselves a shoutout. Not only that, but we also honour our hero of the week too. Here, we talk about a tradesperson who has gone above and beyond in the industry.
This week though, we flipped things on its head a bit. Instead of honouring a hero, we honoured a worthwhile cause instead. Sober for October. Be a sober hero and go 31 days without alcohol this October. Easier said than done I know but this cause is all about saying no to booze, and yes to raising money for people with cancer.
Instead of spending money down the pub, why not donate to Macmillan Cancer Support instead? You could even get sponsored to boost the money you can donate to this incredible cause. If you want to get involved, check out the campaign via this link.
But, before Andy could talk about things any further, the competition claxon sounded again and it was time for our final competition: mug shot! This is where our man Jamie tries to throw as many of his 12 tea bags into the oversized mug hoop as possible. And he’s not very good at it!
Averaging at about 2, there weren’t high hopes with the audience. But, this time, our audience could win another Ring Floodlight Camera keeping your van and house safe and secure. But, with Jamie landing the first tea bag, could this be one for the books? Could he now be a tea bag throwing master?
Well, it was a record breaker but still not great with Jamie landing 4 of the tea bags in the mug.
And that’s it, the end of our show. All that was left to say now was a massive thank you to everyone who took part and our sponsor’s Simply Business. See you next time!
