We’re back and so is our main man Andy Taylor for another fabulous episode of Quids In! This week, we were sponsored by the brilliant Checkatrade and had a whole heap of prizes to give away.
Alongside this, we also had news, top tips, heroes and shoutouts. But what was first? Well, we kicked the show off with a bit of news…
‘Morrisons launch ‘Builders Big Breakfast Butty’!’
The supermarket has recently launched a 10-item fried breakfast sandwich which includes: bacon, hash browns, sausages, baked beans, mushrooms, egg and tomato. It was created for those who don’t have time to sit down for a full breakfast. So, slap it between a couple of bits of bread and you’ve got a full English on the go!
It’s a fiver though, so isn’t the cheapest thing in the world but it’ll certainly be a belter of a breakfast to start the day!
Speaking of breakfast, our first prize giveaway would be perfect to have on site with you while you’re chowing down on the ‘Builders Big Breakfast Butty’, a Makita Coffee Machine! Worth £115, this prize was all thanks to our friends at Checkatrade. For our audience to be in with a chance of winning it though, all they had to do was guess the correct number between 1 and 12 in cement mixer lottery. And, this week, the winning number was… 11!
This wasn’t the only way our audience could win though. The other way? Becoming a Checkatrade member!
Checkatrade is hands down the one tool your business shouldn’t be without! So much more than your average business listing, Checkatrade is a matchmaking service of sorts. They have been connecting consumers with a superior network of exceptional tradespeople for 20 years.
Consumers want to find trades on whom they can rely on to do a good job. And the trades and services want to work with genuine customers who trust them from the start. Checkatrade brings the two together!
With one competition down though, it was now time to move on with the next section of the show, caption this!
The aim of the game here is for our audience to simply caption the image they see on the screen. Easy! Plus, if they come up with a belter of a caption, they could even win an OTT hoodie!
This week, the image showed a tradesman on the roof using a Zimmer frame. Basically what most of us are going to look like when we get older, still grafting! To this, Andy went with the pretty terrible caption of: ‘roofers working until they’re 75!’ Not your best one to be honest Andy…
But, before Andy could continue with any more captions, he was interrupted by the competition claxon signalling our second giveaway: wheel of fortune!
Once again thanks to our friends at Checkatrade, our audience had the chance to win a NEXTBASE 512GW Dash Cam worth £119. And, to be in with a chance of being a winner, all our audience had to do was guess the correct number on the wheel of fortune. Which, this week, was… NINE!
Two competitions down and two more to go, this officially marked the halfway part of the show. But what’s next I hear you ask? Well, it’s time for top tips.
This is the part of the show where we try and help UK tradespeople keep more money in their pockets. By using these top tips, we hope that people will manage to stay… QUIDS IN! And, today, we’ve got a cheeky TWO tips for you.
Tip 1: Sainsbury’s Nectar point double up! This year’s Nectar double-up promo at Sainsbury’s has begun, so if you’ve got a stash of Nectar points, now’s a great time to use them. The double-up promotion means you can get double the value of your points to spend in store meaning you’ll get more for your money.
Of course, there are a few limitations on what you can spend these points on (groceries are excluded) but, with Christmas just around the corner, you could bag yourself some bargain presents. The offer ends on Sunday though so make sure you’re quick, you’ll need to take advantage of these savings now!
Tip 2: Checkatrade Member Satisfaction Guarantee! Checkatrade is so confident that they can help your business that, in the rare instance Checkatrade doesn’t work for you, you will receive your money back in full at the end of their first complete year of membership (terms & conditions apply). If you want to get in on this check it out here.
Before we could discuss things any further though, the competition claxon sounded for Blindfold Darts. Heading over to the Blindfold Darts Arena, Scott was with Dan who was back and blindfolded ready to throw his darts. This time, our audience had the chance to win a Bosch 12V Max Flexiclick® 5-In-1 Drill/Driver System worth £200!
But what number did our lucky winner need to pick to be in with a chance of winning? It was… 17!
Three competitions won, and with just one more to go, it was now time for the next part of our show… shoutouts!
This is where our audience has the chance to get involved live on air and bag themselves a shoutout. Not only that, but we also honour our hero of the week too. Here, we talk about a tradesperson who has gone above and beyond in the industry.
This week though, we mixed things up and spoke about our cause of the week: #noVANber.
Tool and van theft have reached epidemic proportions. And something needs to change. Therefore, we are supporting the #noVANber campaign to help fight back against van crime.
Their aim is to increase awareness of van crime statistics highlighting the impact the crime has on the livelihoods of the victims and gain 100,000 signatures during the month of November. This may sound like a lot but it actually gives the issue the best chance at being debated in parliament.
With almost 30,000 signatures already, they are still a long way off their 100,000 goal. So, if you want to support them, click here.
But, before Andy could talk about things any further, the competition claxon sounded again and it was time for our final competition… mug shot!
This time, our audience had the chance to win a six-month Checkatrade membership worth £600. What a whopper of a prize! Plus, with Checkatrade, you can maximise your exposure. You choose the key areas in which you would like to market your business. And, you can choose to be included in a printed directory sent to over 50,000 homeowners in your working area.
But how could our audience win it? Well, all they had to do was guess how many tea bags Jamie would successfully get in the giant mug. And this week, it was… THREE!
But that was it, the end of our show. All that was left to say now was a massive thank you to everyone who took part and our sponsor’s Checkatrade. See you next time!
