Friday is the best day of the week. And no, it’s not because it’s finally the weekend or there’s a chance to leave work early. No, no, no. The best part of the day is actually at 12:15 pm. Why I hear you ask? Well, it’s because it’s time for Quids In!

This week, Jewson were our sponsors and thanks to them, we were able to give our audience the chance to win a whole host of prizes. So let’s get on with the show! First up, we had our news headline…

News Headline!

Construction workers warned to prepare for harsh winter!

Recent weather forecasts are suggesting that the UK could be facing the coldest winter for almost a decade!

So, construction workers are being urged to get prepared for this and the freezing temperatures they’ll be facing. Managers, monitor the forecast so you can be prepared and limit your worker’s exposure to cold. And, workers, make sure you’ve got the right PPE and take regular breaks.

Plus, be aware of the symptoms of cold exposure too. This can include heavy shivering, uncomfortable coldness, numbness, aching, severe fatigue, confusion, drowsiness and/or euphoria. Just basically take care of yourselves out there guys!

But, before Andy could discuss this anymore though the competition claxon sounded for the first giveaway, cement mixer lottery.

And, thanks to Jewson, we were giving away an Amazon prize bundle worth £99. This included an Amazon Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote and an Amazon Fire 7 Tablet with Alexa. A belter of a prize and all thanks to our friends at Jewson.

If you didn’t know already, Jewson is one of the largest chains of British general builders merchants, selling to small and medium building contractors, as well as to the general public. Not only that, but Jewson’s network also ensures a readily available supply of outstanding timber for tradespeople nationwide.

It’s no surprise that they are the timber experts as they’ve got more than 500 branches! Branches! Get it?

Luckily, before Andy could pull any more terrible jokes though it was time to pick a winner. To be in with a chance of winning, all our lucky audience member had to do was guess the correct number between one and twelve. And, this week it was… TWELVE!

One competition down, three more to go, it was time for our next segment, caption this!

Caption This!

This is the part of the show where the audience can get involved and caption the picture shown on the screen. This week, the image showed a cat with a tape measure hard at work. To this, Andy thought up the caption: ‘stop pussyfooting around and just measure it!’

I mean, it wasn’t terrible, but it also wasn’t great either and luckily, our audience came up with some much better captions and one lucky person managed to win themselves a hoodie.

Speaking of winning, it wasn’t long before the competition claxon sounded again for our next giveaway, wheel of fortune. And, thanks to our friends at Jewson, we were giving away an iPhone 6s in Space Grey worth £399!

In fact, Jewson are so great, they’ve got so much timber you ‘wooden’ believe it!

Wow, another belter pun from Andy Taylor there. He’s on a roll today. But, luckily it was time for our second winner to be announced. And, this week, the wheel landed on the number… SEVEN!

With two competitions now won, this officially marked the halfway point in our show. But what could be next? Well, it’s got to be top tips!

Top Tips!

This is the part of the show where we aim to keep money in the pockets of the UK tradespeople. Everything is getting more expensive nowadays so we try to help our audience keep a hold of their dosh with a couple of top tips.

Unfortunately, this week, Andy only had one tip. But, don’t worry, it was certainly a belter!

Tip 1: Bag yourself some free beer!

Yep, until Sun 20 January, Great British Pubs is offering free drinks including beer and cider in 1,100 pubs in England and Wales when you register on your phone or tablet. So, if money is tight after Christmas, this is a great way to get out and see friends without having to dip into your wallet.

Or, if you’re doing dry January don’t worry, you can get some free soft drinks with this deal too! See how you can get in on this here.

Speaking of deals, there’s no better one than when you get something for free. And, thanks to Jewson, we were giving away another Amazon Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote and an Amazon Fire 7 Tablet with Alexa.

But first, of course, Andy had to get another timber pun in there. Yep, this time he went for: ‘what is a tree’s least favourite month of the year? Sep-timber?’

Heading over to the Blindfold Darts Arena, our man Dan was with Phil who was blindfolded and ready to throw his dart. Getting it on his second go, he managed to land the number… SEVENTEEN!

With our third competition done, there was just one more to go. And, this time, our audience had the chance to win a Sony PS4 Pro Console worth £349. But first, shoutouts!

Shoutouts!

This is the part of the show where our audience can get involved live on air and bag themselves a shoutout. Not only that, but we also honour our hero of the week too. Here, we talk about a tradesman who has gone above and beyond in the industry.

This week we saluted decorator Wayne De Wet from Norfolk who has raised nearly £5.5k for Cancer Research UK and the Alzheimer’s Society. How? By conquering his fears in a skydive!

After his first dive was cancelled due to bad weather, he took the plunge and completed this incredible challenge raising thousands of pounds for charity. He has been described as a top bloke and an amazing man who raises loads of money for charity every year.

If you’d like to support him, you can donate to his cause here.

But now, it was time for our final giveaway and thanks to Jewson, our audience had the chance to win the PlayStation. But, of course, first Andy needed to get one last timber joke in there. He asked Jamie, ‘what dating app does a joiner use? TIMBER!’

Luckily though that was our last pun of the day. But, unfortunately, it was also our last competition too. And, to be in with a chance of winning, all our audience had to do was guess how many tea bags Jamie could throw into the oversized mug. With a couple of record weeks, Jamie was off to a good start but unfortunately that didn’t last and in the end, he got… FIVE!

So that was it. The end of our show. All that was left to say now was thank you to everyone who watched the show and a massive thank you to our fantastic sponsors Jewson for all of the brilliant prizes! See you next time!
