IT’S COMING HOME! With the World Cup in full force, and we’re actually doing pretty well, there’s only one thing that can make this day better… QUIDS IN!

That’s right it’s time for another episode of everyone’s favourite weekly Facebook show, this week sponsored by the fantastic Bosch Power Tools. So sit back, relax, and enjoy some more terrible jokes from our presenter Andy Taylor!

But first, it’s time for the news headlines!

News Headlines!

Vegetables to change the building game…

What? Yep, you heard that right, vegetables are being used to make building products. Apparently, vegetables can help concrete become stronger! Now for the science bit. Tests found that by using the nanoplatelets from carrots or sugar beets, the mechanical properties of concrete can be improved!

So, not only are you going to have 5 a day on your plate, but you’re building materials too. Remember those terrible jokes I mentioned earlier? Well, that’s the first of many.

Plumbers revealed to be the happiest workers!

Apparently, plumbers are the happiest workers out there. In fact, 55% of plumbers stated they were very happy with their lives. Following them were general builders and lorry drivers. Well, it looks like being shoulder deep in people’s excrement is a wonderful thing after all! Who would’ve guessed it eh!

But, speaking of being happy, our audience had the chance to be a whole heap happier by winning a prize in our first competition, cement mixer lottery. Thanks to our friends at Bosch we were giving away some PointTeQ drill bits and some OTT goodies. These drill bits are self-centring making for quick and easy drilling. Not only that, but it also increases the drilling rate too generating less heat and ware which is a bonus because they’ll last longer. And we all know what that means, you could be… QUIDS IN! Plus those OTT goodies are pretty nifty too!

All our audience had to do to be in with a chance of winning these, was guess the correct number between 1 and 20. Easy And, this week it was the number… four!

But, with one competition down it was now time to move onto the next part of our show, caption this!

Caption This!

A new one to Quids In, the aim of the game here was for our audience to simply caption the image they see on the screen. Easy! Plus, if they come up with a belter of a caption too, they could even win an OTT hoodie!

This week, the image showed a tradesman with three lion bar wrappers taped to his t-shirt. Get it.. three lions… world cup… anyway! Maybe it’s time for a quick word about our sponsors. This show was all made possible thanks to our friends at Bosch Power Tools. With the amazing prizes on offer in today’s episode, Bosch also sell a whole host of amazing products too, perfect for those in the trade. So, take a look at their site here.

Moving on though, the competition claxon soon sounded for giveaway number 2: wheel of fortune! This time, all our audience had to do was guess a number between 1 and 12. But what could they win? Well, we were only giving away a Bosch on site radio weren’t we! But that’s not all, we were also giving away some Carbide Blades too! The blades alone cost £55!

All our audience needed to do to be in with a chance of winning was guess the number… seven!

Two down, two more to go, we were officially halfway through the show. But, what’s up next? Well, it’s time for top tips!

Top Tips!

This is the part of the show where we try to help tradespeople in the UK keep more money in their pockets. And, this week, we had two top tips for the viewers at home. So let’s get to it…

Tip 1: RBS current account offer. A bit boring yes, but we all need bank accounts don’t we. Well, RBS is offering £100 if you switch your account to them. You’ve got to be quick though, the offer ends on Monday so if you’re looking for someone new to bank with, then maybe have a look into these guys. Plus, getting an extra £100 a month will mean you’ll be… QUIDS IN!

But it doesn’t stop there either. With a small fee of £2 a month, you also get 2% cash back on any bills you pay via direct debit. Bonus!

Tip 2: The Nike sale! It started on Wednesday and if you put in the code ’20EXTRA’ at the checkout, you’ll get an extra 20% off. Plus, they’ve already got 40% off some items so you could end up with 60% off your Nike gear as well. Even better! Be quick though, because the deal ends Tuesday at midnight. You could grab yourself some right bargains in the meantime though and you could be… QUIDS IN!

Speaking of which, it was time for our third competition: blindfold darts! And, this time, our audience had the chance to win a Bosch Combi Drill worth £145! This week, Scott was joined by Mat who, after five darts, managed to land the number… 15!

With just one competition left to go, it was now time for our final segment: shoutouts!

This is the part of the show where we give our audience the chance to feature by giving them a shoutout live on the air. Alongside this, we also honour our hero of the week too. And, this week, we honoured two incredible tradespeople: Chris Norfolk and Kent Taylor who volunteer their time with the Band of Builders.

They have recently been commended on their work on Pippa’s project in Wales where they helped a young girl and her family. Chris was the lead on phase one of the project and has been described by founder Addam Smith as an “absolute gentleman and a master of his trade.”

Kent was then responsible for project managing phase 2 of the work. A multi-trader, he clocked a whopping 2,000 miles helping out on the project, all for free! Both of these guys took time out from working and volunteered for free to help this young girl and her family.

Of course, everyone involved in the project is heroes, but these two deserve some extra recognition for going above and beyond and managing the project from the start to the very successful finish. Chris, Kent, the Band of Builders, we salute you all for your incredible work!

With the show drawing to a close though, it was now time for our final competition, another round of the wheel of fortune. This time, our audience had the chance to win a Rotary Hammer Drill from Bosch. With kickback control, electronic precision control and delivering 2.6 joules of impact energy, this beauty is worth more than £300!

All our audience had to do to be in with a chance of winning it was guess the number… 11!

And that was it for the end of our show. Oh no, wait! We had one little surprise left for you yet… a special debut performance from our very own Mat Butler with IT’S COMING HOME!
