On Friday the 4th November, another van robbery took place.

Again, tools were being stolen out of a tradesman’s van. But this time, the thief was not alone. Instead, the thief had the help of a taxi driver to aid him with his crime!

At around 4:30 am, Rick Moore was simply standing at the back of his house having a brew and a cigarette. He began to hear noises though from the other side of the gate. This was where his van was parked. And there was a car engine running.

Therefore, Rick rushed to the front door to see what was happening. When he got there, he witnessed his tools being carried down the drive and into the back of a taxi. He charged down the drive and managed to catch the one stealing the tools but unfortunately, he managed to slip away. To ensure the taxi stayed put though, he removed the keys and waited for the police to arrive.

He was incredibly lucky that he had managed to catch the thief in time and get his tools back. However, this was not the first time the thief had trespassed onto the property. His CCTV displayed that he had broken into the van earlier that morning. He then disappeared, returning thirty five minutes later in a taxi. It was at this point that he then began to load the tools into the taxi.

The taxi belonged to the firm ‘City Private Hire & Minibuses Ltd’ from Blackburn. They were not very co-operative with Rick regarding the matter though. Each time Rick tried to contact them, they simply stated that he needed to speak to their boss. However, each time he rang he was given a different time as to when they would be in, and they were unwilling to have the boss call him back.

Not only this, but they also removed his review and post off of their Facebook page, without comment. This was alongside banning Rick, his wife and their friends from their page too!

The taxi driver has however been cooperative with the police and has been cleared of any wrongdoings.

An alarming number of vans are being broken into recently and it is becoming a real issue for tradespeople across the nation. Take a look at Fran’s story here: onthetools.tv. We’re interested to know though, how many people is this happening to? Are you guys suffering through the same experiences? Or do you know someone who has? Let us know in the comments below.
