Tool theft is on the rise and vans are being broken into up and down the country. But now, thieves are also starting to break into the construction sites too and forcibly steal tools.
A recent incident in Tamworth, Staffordshire has encouraged police to launch an appeal though. The theft took place last Saturday at a construction site in Two Gates. A spokesperson for the police described: “unknown offenders have broken the lock to the front gate of the site and once inside, have forced access to a mini digger.”
“The offenders have then used the mini digger to forcibly remove the doors to two sheds.”
The two thieves were then able to escape with a large number of power tools from the site. They are still unknown to police though which has encouraged the appeal for more information.
This case of theft is not just an isolated incident though. Tool thefts have been taking place in their masses up and down the country. To find out more about it take a look at another story here where £8,000 of equipment was stolen and the police did nothing!
To try and put a top to these tool thefts though, workers have decided to take a stand, take a look at the work they’re doing here.
