A homeowner has recently voiced her disgust online after she found out that a tradesman had used her friend’s toilet without asking.

Posting her fury on Mumsnet, the user described: “A friend posted on Facebook the other day about having a workman who pooed in her loo without asking.”

“The comments were all saying how rude and disgusting it was.”

“Some even saying to report him or that they would have kicked him out.”

“Anyway, I mentioned it to a friend who didn’t see the problem.”

“But I do think that it’s rude as well so [am I being unreasonable] or is it rude not to ask?!”

From this post, the homeowner received many comments disagreeing with her. Instead, many of them felt she was being too “precious”.

Comments included: “You want a grown adult to either not use the toilet or ask if they need a poo? As long as they clear up after themselves, what’s the problem?”

“Where is he supposed to go? If you need to.”

And, “I don’t think it’s rude. It’s a toilet, it’s what it’s for.”

In relation to this, apparently, one of the top things tradesmen wished their customers understood was how much a site needed to be prepped. Including a toilet! Take a look at the full report on this here.

At the end of the day, homeowners can’t expect workers not to go to the toilet all day. And, if they’re not willing to offer up their own toilet, then alternatives need to be made available.

If not, they’ll only end up having to travel in order to find a bathroom to use. This not only results in time away from the job but also costs homeowners more money too. And, according to additional research, money is one of the most important factors for homeowners when they’re hiring a tradesperson. Take a look at the research here.
