A recent report has revealed that a forty-five-year-old worker has died whilst working on site.

The incident took place on Wednesday the 19th April on an Avant Homes site in High Blantyre. According to reports, police and ambulances rushed to the scene in response to calls of a worker being seriously injured. Unfortunately though, the emergency services were unable to save the worker and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A nearby neighbour describes: “there were lots of police cars and ambulances in attendance.”

“I also noticed the air ambulance was out too.”

The police confirmed that “at around 9:45am on Wednesday, April 19, police and emergency services responded to reports of a 45-year-old man having been seriously injured while working at a building site close to Shott Farm on Hamilton Road.”

“Paramedics attended and pronounced the man dead at the scene.”

“The man is still to be formally identified.”

“A post-mortem will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death, which is not being treated as suspicious at this time.”

“The Health and Safety Executive have been informed.”

An Avant Homes spokesperson continued: “our thoughts and condolences are with his family and loved ones at this time.”

“An investigation has been launched immediately and all works have been suspended whilst we assist the emergency services.”
