Apparently, the best location to be a tradesman is Brighton! However, if you’re a plumber or electrician, then chances are you’re better off working in another location.

This is according to a recent study by IronmongeryDirect who have developed a tool to find out the best locations for tradesmen to work. Of course, different trades were better off in different areas. However, overall there were five top cities to be a tradesman in the UK.

The first, as already mentioned, was Brighton. Specifically, this city was the best place for builders, carpenters and landscapers to work. Job availability is quite high across the sectors too with start-up businesses lasting for over a year in this area.

For plumbers though, Chester is the place to be. Here, there are high start-up rates and not only that but there also low advertising costs for workers too.

Leicester is the place for landscapers and gardeners though, with high start-up rates once again. The same cannot be said for electrician’s though whose top location is Coventry instead. Apparently, there is a high number of jobs for the sparks in this area, and low advertising costs for them too.

To be less specific though, according to the study, generally the best place to work as a construction worker is Newcastle upon Tyne.

The managing director at IronmongeryDirect revealed that “it’s surprising to see the difference across the industries.”

“The city ranking is significantly different between plumbers and builders, for example.”

“But it looks like Brighton could always use more tradesmen!”
