Cancer. Unfortunately, this devastating disease is a reality in today’s society. With thousands diagnosed every single year, cancer is a word that strikes fear in pretty much everyone.
And, the same can be said for this young bricklayer, Richie Maxwell. Sadly, Richie has already lost his dad to this ugly disease. And now, he is watching his friend also fighting in hospital. But, instead of sitting back, Richie has decided to do something to help. He too is going to fight back against cancer. Literally!
He is taking part in an Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB) charity event next month. Taking place on the 7th July at Alloa Town Hall, Scotland, Richie is trying to raise as much money as possible for the charity event.
Richie described: “UWCB have raised over £11 million to support Cancer Research UK in finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and cure cancer.”
“Progress is being made, with survival rates doubling in the past forty years.”
“But there is still so much more to be done and the ambition of Cancer Research is to see at least 3 in 4 people surviving cancer by 2034.”
“Supporting me in my UWCB bout will help add to the amazing funds raised by UWCB to assist Cancer Research in their goals.”
“So please be as generous as you can.”
“If you know of any businesses/companies that would be interested in donating at least £50 to have their name on my vest and get a mention on the night of the event please get in touch with me.”
“It would be great PR for them!”
