Social media is a part of pretty much everyone’s day to day life. You can’t get away from it.
But, despite how much we complain about social media, and how nothing can be done without an Instagram post going along with it, it’s not all bad. Especially when it comes to your business!
According to a recent survey by MyJobQuote.co.uk, two thirds of homeowners look for tradespeople via social media. In fact, chances are, you’re probably reading this through some means of social media right? Whether that be Facebook or Twitter, it can have a massive impact on not just yourself but the success of your business too.
According to the results, Facebook was found to be the most influential social media network. In fact, 71% of homeowners stated that they would check out a tradesperson/company on Facebook before they would get into contact with them.
The study was made up of 2,825 British homeowners. They were asked what their primary source of information was when looking for a tradesperson. The results showed that 67% used social media as their primary source. Following that, 16% used the recommendations of family and friends. And, a further 11% revealed that they would scout a company or tradesperson out on their professional website too.
Surprisingly, just 4% used review or comparison sites. When looking at success rates though, those who used review websites were found to have the best experiences. 72% were happy with the individual they hired in comparison to 66% for those who used social media.
So… time to clean up the Facebook page?
MyJobQuote’s Lisa Evans described: “It’s interesting to see the changing and ever-growing role of social media in our lives.”
“The secret to its success is that it’s accessible and convenient.”
“In a couple of taps you can find all you need to, which is great when we are short on time or on the move.”
