Friday is the best day of the week. And no, it’s not because it’s finally the weekend or there’s the chance to leave work early. No, no, no. The best part of the day is actually at 12:15 pm. Why I hear you ask? Well, it’s because it’s time for Quids In!

This week, Juice by Jewson were our sponsors and thanks to them, we were able to give our audience the chance to win a whole host of prizes. So let’s get on with the show!

Hang on a minute… this isn’t Andy?

Nope, loving life in the south of France, Andy was off on his holiday’s so it was time for our Video Producer Dan to step up to the presenting plate and deliver a belter of a show. Good luck!

With £1,000 worth of prizes to give away, Dan had a good start to the show kicking things off with the news headlines.

News Headlines!

Starting off with quite a serious headline though, it was all about complaining at work. It read: ‘Ever complained about work? Could you have been blacklisted?

This story was all about tradespeople and their complaining. Unions have stated that certain tradespeople who have been found to complain have actually been blacklisted by their employers! There goes the apprentice then…

Passing on the details of these tradespeople, developers have tried to prevent them from getting hired by others! Unions have now issued a warning though stating that those found guilty of doing this will face long strikes, and legal action will be taken.

And, to make matters worse, Dan’s next news story wasn’t too uplifting either. We’re not really helping him out here, are we? Instead, the headline read, ‘Almost 50% of self-employed workers are owed up to £60,000 by clients.

Shockingly, research has found that 43% of self-employed workers have been found to do work and not been paid. In fact, the payment problem has found to be particularly bad between younger workers aged between 18 and 34. Not on! So come on customers, get those tradespeople paid because then they can be… QUIDS IN!

And on that note, it was time for our first competition, Cement Mixer Lottery! This time, our audience had the chance to win an X Box One, all by guessing a number between 1 and 12. And, all our lucky winner had to do was pick the number, two!

One competition down, it was time for our next segment, caption this!

Caption This!

This is the part of the show where the audience can get involved and caption the picture shown on the screen. This week, the image showed a tradesman lying down by the side of the road. Dan went with ‘working flat out’ for his caption. Now that one’s pretty good, it’ll be a tough one to beat!

But, before we got any further with caption this, it was time to talk about our sponsor. This week, we were working with Jewson and their Juice rewards scheme. Here, tradespeople can stay Quids In by signing up to Juice rewards and earn themselves points every time they shop.

Using these points they can then exchange them for prizes. And, as an added bonus, if they added the code ‘OTT250’ when they signed up for Jewson and Juice accounts then they get an extra 250 points straight away! With 575 branches across the UK as well, you’re never far away so get spending so you can get those points. In fact, all of the prizes we were giving away in this week’s Quids In are on offer to exchange for points too. Amazing!

Speaking of prizes though, it was time for another competition! And, for the chance to win an Apple Watch, all our audience needed to do was guess a number between 1 and 12 for the Wheel of Fortune. And, with the spin of a wheel, it landed on the number… ONE!

Top of the shop one, we picked a winner at random before moving onto our next section of the show, Top Tips!

Top Tips!

This is the part of the show where we aim to keep money in the pockets of the UK tradespeople. Everything is getting more expensive nowadays so we try to help our audience keep a hold of their dosh with a couple of top tips.

Tip 1: Free cinema tickets on a Sunday just by buying some chocolate. Valid between 19th August and 18th November, all people need to do is buy a selected promotional bag of chocolate and they can bag themselves a free cinema ticket (at selected cinemas of course).

Tip 2: Purchasing your car insurance 21 days before your renewal can save you, on average, £550! Research has found that there are huge price variances on when you buy your policy and the optimum time is actually 21 days before you need to renew.

So, get your insurance bought early because if you do, you could be… QUIDS IN!

And with that, the competition claxon sounded for another giveaway. This time, thanks to our friends at Juice, we were able to give away a laptop! Another prize that is available as a Juice reward, this prize was worth over £300. All our audience needed to do to win it was put 1 to 20 in the comments (not 25 Dan). Easy!

This week, our Blindfold Darts Presenter was with Mat, who, to be honest, wasn’t great at the old blindfold darts. After a couple of attempts though, he was able to land the winning number 17!

With our third competition done, there was just one more to go. And, this time, people had the chance to win a weekend break for two! But first, it was time for shoutouts.

This is the part of the show where our audience can get involved live on air and bag themselves a shoutout. Not only that, but we also honour our hero of the week too. Here, we talk about a tradesman who has gone above and beyond in the industry.

This week we saluted Lewis Shaw, a plumber from Doncaster who volunteers with the government replacing boilers for people up and down the country who are less fortunate. This could be anything from a low-income family to a disabled person. So well done Lewis and all of your amazing work. Keep it up!

But, before we could go any further, it was time for our final giveaway. This time, people had the chance to win a two-night boutique hotel break, all thanks to our sponsor’s Juice by Jewson!

All they had to do was take part in our competition ‘Patchhrase’ and say what they saw on the screen. Now, let us be clear. ‘Patchphrase’ is nothing like any other popular programmes… that could possibly begin with a C… Moving swiftly on though, it was time for our game and the image revealed a jack card and a bunch of different tools.

Finally uncovered, the ‘Patchrase’ was… a ‘jack of all trades’!

And that marked the end of another incredible show! All that was left to say now was a massive thank you to everyone who took part and our sponsor’s Juice by Jewson. See you next time!
