It’s Friday and time for another episode of Quids In, our weekly Facebook Live show! The aim of the game with this one is to keep more money in the pockets of UK tradespeople. And, this week it’s a Triton Showers special!

Throughout the show, we gave away hundreds of pounds worth of Triton gear! Alongside this, we also had news, industry advice, heroes and shoutouts. So, let’s kick things off with a few news headlines…

News Headlines!

‘Homeowner hides tradesman’s keys for 6 hours!’

According to the homeowner, the tradesman had parked outside his house when there were plenty of other places to park nearby. And, when he went out to confront him, he noticed the keys were in the ignition. So, he swiped them and locked the van remotely.

He then kept them for 6 hours, before going out and confronting the builder. To this, the tradesman said he’d move the van if he could just find the keys. So, the homeowner dropped them for him to ‘find’, but guess what?

When he did find them, he just opened the van and locked it again without moving!

‘Man poos in display toilet!’

The police were called to an un-named B&Q store recently after a customer unbuckled his trousers and took a dump in a display room toilet. According to reports, witnesses spotted the man defecating into the toilet which was part of a display. Clearly not hooked up to the mains, a group of young children also bore witness to the incident.

Southend News Network reported an account from a witness at the scene. Barry White described: “A young male started acting strangely and shuffling around on the spot in front of the dado rails when suddenly, he shouted and ran towards the bathroom display area while unbuckling his trousers.”

“From the cry of relief that he emitted, it’s clear that he was suffering from a ‘shart’ – this is when flatulence develops further beyond the point of mere gases.”

“The poor fellow was clearly pushed over the precipice on this occasion, and the worst part was when he tried to flush and the cistern just made a dry clunking noise.”

“I’m not sure how he didn’t realise that it wasn’t a real toilet.”

“He had to tear off a ‘Buy Now Pay Later’ garland that was holding the seat and lid together.”

Ew! Moving on from sharts and petty homeowners though, the competition claxon sounded for our first competition, cement mixer lottery.

Thanks to our friends at Triton Showers, we were able to give away a Triton Mixer Shower worth around £80. And, to be in with a chance of winning it, all our audience had to do was guess the correct number between 1 and 12. And, this week it was the number… TWELVE!

With one competition down though, it was now time for our next segment: Question Time.

Question Time!

This is the part of the show where we answer the burning questions of UK construction. And, this week, our first question was, “what do you call a bread roll?”

To this, we had multiple answers from the audience including a cob, batch and a roll. But, with Andy having the deciding vote, he went with a batch. What do you think though? Let us know?

Next up, he had the question, “so what’s your worst excuse to skip a day off work?”

With this question, we managed to get some answers from our young tradesperson group and to be honest with you, they were a bit weird! Our first answer was: “my dad’s giving birth to my dog.”

Followed by, “it’s a nice day and I woke up in a great mood. I’d hate to ruin it by going to work.”

And, “football is on TV and I’m already drunk!”

Before Andy could give his worst excuse though, and it’s probably a good job really, the competition claxon sounded for our second giveaway, wheel of fortune! And, thanks to our friends at Triton Showers, we were giving our audience the chance to win a Triton T80 Pro-fit shower worth £140.

To be in with a chance of winning it, all our audience had to do was guess the correct number between 1 and 12. And, this week, the winning number was… ONE!

But, that’s not all, that was just the second of our four competitions. So, on with the show. And next up was top tips!

Top Tips!

At the end of the day, or the month, or even the year… we all want more money! Everything seems to be getting more expensive and let’s face it, we’re not going to win the lottery anytime soon. So here’s this week’s tips.

Tip 1: 40% off Ikea sale! Ikea is having an up to 40% off summer sale until the 1st of July. It’s in store only and does exclude a couple of shops (Westfield Stratford, Birmingham Central, Norwich and Aberdeen). But, you can get an extra 10% off with an Ikea family card too which is a free scheme that gets you exclusive offers and an extra 10% off sales.

So, if you haven’t done enough grafting the week, you can spend your weekend building stuff too!

Tip 2: Get the best price England shirt! England has won a game at the World Cup! I know, unbelievable right? But, in the spirit of this, is now the time to rush out and buy an England shirt?

Well, if you think the answer is yes, then we’ve done the hard work for you and searched for the cheapest. And, believe it or not, it’s actually John Lewis! It’s still £45 mind you but, if you’re buying one anyway, get to John Lewis and you’ll be… QUIDS IN!

Speaking of which it was now time for our third competition, blindfold darts. So, we headed over to Scott at the Blindfold Darts Arena where he and Dan were ready to play some blindfold darts. This time, thanks to our friends at Triton Showers, our audience was playing for another Triton T80 Pro-fit shower worth £140. And to be in with a chance of winning them, all they had to do was guess the number… 18!

Three competitions down and just one more to go, it was now time for our shoutout section of the show.

Here, we give our audience the chance to take part in the show by getting themselves a shoutout. Alongside this, we also honour our hero of the week too. This is where we salute a member of the industry for their incredible work.

And, this week, we honoured a bricklayer from Scotland by the name of Richie Maxwell. After losing his father to cancer, and currently seeing a close friend also suffering from cancer too, he’s decided to literally fight back by taking part in a white collar boxing match on the 7th of July.

So, if you want to support Richie, please follow the link here and make a donation. Well done Richie!

With our show almost over, there was time for just one more competition, another spin of the wheel. And, we were giving away a Triton Digital mixer shower worth a whopping £400!

To be in with a chance of winning it, all our audience had to do was pick the correct number between 1 and 12. And, this week, it was the number… TEN!

And that marked the end of our fourth ever episode of Quids In. All that was left to do now was to give a massive thanks to our friends at Triton Showers for sponsoring another great show and everyone who took part. See you next time!
